Caesars launches SG-powered sportsbooks in Iowa

News

Caesars Entertainment’s Harrah’s Hotel and Casino and Horseshoe Council Bluffs have gone live in Iowa’s newly-regulated sports betting market.

Both venues launched legal wagering on 23 August, with customers able to place bets at The Book-branded betting lounges.

Scientific Games’ OpenSports product suite is powering wagering at each venue.

Horseshoe held an opening event to launch its sportsbook, featuring guests including Terence Crawford and former Nebraska Quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Eric Crouch, who placed the first official bet at the casino.

With both casinos located on the banks of the Missouri river, which separates Council Bluffs, Iowa from Omaha, Nebraska, a high amount of traffic from the state of Nebraska – where sports betting is not currently legal – is expected.

Sports betting in Iowa launched on 8 August, when eight sportsbooks went live.

Ealier this month, Scientific Games reported a year-on-year increase in revenue and a 52.4% decline in net losses for the first six months of 2019.
