Bet.Works hires Jay Rood as chief risk officer

US sports betting start-up Bet.Works has appointed veteran gambling executive Jay Rood as the company’s chief risk officer.

Rood joins from MGM Resorts, where he spent more than 25 years, having joined in 1993 was a ticket writer before working his way up to oversee all sportsbook operations for the business. 

“I had the privilege of working with Jay in the past and his 25 years of sportsbook operations will help take the company to the next level,” Bet.Works founder and chief executive David Wang said.

“There is no one more qualified to lead our organization as we deploy in more states in the coming months,” Wang continued. “Jay and our in-house Las Vegas-based trading and risk team will oversee all of the brands on the Bet.Works platform with a significant emphasis into advanced in-play wagering via our technology platform.”

Rood added: “I am excited to be joining a group of extremely experienced and talented individuals at Bet.Works focusing on servicing the emerging sports betting industry with unique and powerful technology and a team that has extensive knowledge in the US betting market.
