BCLC appoints Beebe as interim COO

Canadian provincial lottery operator the British Colombia Lottery Organization (BCLC) has appointed Dan Beebe as interim chief operating officer.

The appointment comes after Brad Desmarais announced his retirement from the role last month, with Beebe moving into the position on a temporary basis from November 1.

Beebe, who was previously director of lottery strategic development at the BCLC, will serve as interim COO while a permanent replacement for Desmarais is sought.

“Beebe brings extensive industry experience, including previous leadership roles in digital services, eLottery and strategic business development,” the BCLC said.

“Through a commitment to collaboration with industry partners, he has successfully developed and championed strategies to sustain and grow BCLC’s land-based and online channels, for the benefit of players and communities across B.C.

Lynda Cavanaugh will remain as interim president and chief executive of the BCLC, as Jim Lightbody continues his medical leave to undergo cancer treatment and recovery.
