BetMGM announces NYRA Bets as first horse racing partner

News

BetMGM struck a deal that sees the New York Racing Association’s online betting platform NYRA Bets become the operator’s first horse racing partner in the US.

NYRA Bets is available across 30 states, and covers more than 200 horse racing tracks worldwide.

BetMGM will gain access to NYRA’s horse racing app, which will allow customers to bet on events such as the Kentucky Derby, Belmont Stakes and Breeders’ Cup.

“We’ve found a great partner in NYRA Bets and look forward to working with them to create a thrilling, interactive experience for horse racing fans on BetMGM,” the operator’s chief executive Adam Greenblatt said.

NYRA Bets President Tony Allevato added: “This is the type of partnership that reflects the importance of horse racing within the rapidly evolving sports betting marketplace.

“BetMGM has consistently led the charge to expand wagering opportunities for their customers, and we are thrilled that our horse racing content will soon be available on their platform.”

Horse racing becomes the latest sport for BetMGM to affiliate themselves with, following deals with the Baltimore Ravens and the LPGA Tour struck earlier this month.

The deal comes as mobile wagering in New York moves closer.

In the wake of Governor Andrew Cuomo signing the state’s 2022 budget into law in April, a tender process is set to begin by 1 June to select at least two platform providers.
