BetMGM becomes exclusive betting partner of The Hockey News

News

BetMGM has agreed a deal to become the exclusive sports betting partner of ice hockey publication The Hockey News.

Under the deal, The Hockey News – which BetMGM said has more than 1 million readers – will use BetMGM odds for its podcasts and news articles, as well as displaying ads from the operator.

“The Hockey News has long been the trusted leader among hockey fans for the best news and analysis,” BetMGM chief revenue officer Matt Prevost said. “They’re an ideal partner for BetMGM to reach one of the most passionate and knowledgeable fan bases in all of sports.”

W. Graeme Roustan, owner and publisher of The Hockey News, said the fact that BetMGM was a well-known and trusted operator played a major part in the deal.

“When looking for the best sports betting partner for our readership, trust and brand positioning were key factors,” Roustan said. “BetMGM is a trusted, well-known operator and we couldn’t be more excited to have found a long-term partner for our sports betting related content.”

The agreement follows BetMGM’s announcement last week that NHL legend Wayne Gretzky would become a BetMGM brand ambassador, in a move the operator said would help as it looked toward expanding into Canada.

Currently, betting in Canada is only legal if a bet is placed on three or more events at once, but the Senate is currently considering a bill that would allow single-event betting. That bill was passed by the House of Commons in April and is currently before the Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce after passing a second Senate reading.
