BetMGM enters DC market with Washington Nationals partnership

News

BetMGM is to expand into Washington DC’s regulated sports betting market through an exclusive partnership with the Washington Nationals Major League Baseball (MLB) team.

Under the multi-year agreement, BetMGM will launch its mobile sports betting app in the state.

The app can be accessed throughout Washington DC, but local restrictions mean players can only place mobile bets when located within a two-block radius of the MLB team’s Nationals Park stadium.

The partnership will also see BetMGM open a branded retail sportsbook at Nationals Park later this year.

In addition, BetMGM’s integration with MGM Resorts’ M life Rewards program will allow customers to redeem their gameplay for experiences at MGM Resorts properties across the US.

“Launching in Washington DC at Nationals Park sets the stage for our plans to expand BetMGM within the region, as we’ve already seen great success in Virginia,” BetMGM chief executive Adam Greenblatt said.

“The Washington Nationals have been a fantastic partner, committed to innovating the in-stadium fan experience and we’re looking forward to opening our retail sportsbook at the stadium later this year.”

Alan Gottlieb, chief operating office of Lerner Sports Group, which owns the Washington Nationals, added: “The BetMGM mobile app will enable our fans to engage with the game in new and exciting ways, while the BetMGM sportsbook connected to Nationals Park will provide Nationals fans and the DC community with a first-class gathering place to celebrate their passion for sports.”
