BetMGM launches horse racing app in Ohio

News

Online sportsbook BetMGM has launched its BetMGM Horse Racing mobile app in Ohio through a partnership with the New York Racing Association’s betting app, NYRA Bets.

On the app, Ohio customers will be able to place bets on Thoroughbred, Harness and Quarter Horse races on over 200 tracks worldwide.

As part of the deal, BetMGM will use NYRA Bets’ platform to allow Ohio customers to place bets from their homes.

The app will also feature live stream video, race replays and opportunities to bet on marquee events across the US- including the Kentucky Derby, Preakness, and Belmont Stakes.

“We’re proud to introduce BetMGM Horse Racing, our new mobile offering to the state of Ohio,” said Adam Greenblatt, CEO of BetMGM.

“In partnership with NYRA Bets, we’ve created an innovative digital experience for horse racing fans and anticipate the platform’s future launch in additional states.”

Additionally, customers can bet on international events, such as the Royal Ascot Meet, Melbourne Cup and the Dubai World Cup.

“The Northfield Park harness racing grounds have been home to some of the nation’s premier races since the 1950s,” said Matt Buckley, SVP of marketing and operations for MGM Northfield Park.

“Working with BetMGM to elevate harness racing throughout Ohio is a sign of our continued commitment and investment in the sport.”

In June, the Ohio state assembly passed sports betting bill Senate Bill 176 to its finance committee for approval after it was approved by the Ohio Senate Gaming Committee.

The bill was first introduced in May by Ohio senator Niraj Antani.
