Caesars reveals plans to open first Nebraska property

Caesars Entertainment has announced plans to open its first land-based gambling venue in the US state of Nebraska.

Located in Columbus and planned in partnership with Columbus Exposition and Racing, the new Harrah’s Columbus, NE Racing & Casino facility would offer consumers both on-site casino gaming and horse racing wagering.

Caesars said the new thoroughbred racetrack would be the longest in Nebraska, while the 28,000sq ft casino would feature more than 500 slot machines, 14 tables and a sportsbook.

As part of the project, Caesars said it will bring a temporary casino to Ag Park in Columbus, with this expected to open in late spring this year.

The temporary casino will have more than 200 slot machines and a simulcast offering where guests will be able to watch and bet on horse racing from around the world. The location will also form part of the Caesars Rewards network, with players able to accumulate points to redeem at any Caesars property across North America.

Caesars added that subject to approvals, the new Harrah’s Columbus, NE Racing & Casino facility is expected to open next year.

“Horse racing has been ingrained in the history of Columbus for decades; we’re thrilled to contribute to that history and bring an all-new, one-mile racetrack for the community to enjoy,” Caesars’ senior vice president of racing Joe Morris said.

“Caesars Entertainment is committed to bringing the best offerings for guests of the casino and fans of racing in the area and we look forward to welcoming Columbus to the track once it’s complete.”

Caesars’ regional president Todd Connelly added: “We’re pleased to bring a brand-new destination to the great state of Nebraska. This is a huge milestone for the company, and we’ve been working hard to bring it to life.

“We were honored to be joined by our partners and have the support of the local community during today’s event. We’re looking forward to welcoming the people of Columbus and beyond when we open our doors in 2024.”
