Caesars launches mobile sportsbook in Puerto Rico

News

Caesars Entertainment has become the latest operator to launch online sports betting in the US territory of Puerto Rico.

Consumers in Puerto Rico can place bets on the Caesars Sportsbook mobile betting app or accompanying website.

Online betting will initially only be available to citizens of Puerto Rico. Non-residents visiting Puerto Rico will have the ability to register for the app later this summer.

The app and website will be integrated with the Caesars Rewards loyalty program. For every bet placed, users will earn tier credits, which can be exchanged for experiences at Caesars Entertainment destinations.

Online and retail betting

The online offering will run alongside the land-based Caesars Sportsbook, which opened at Casino Metro in December 2022. The facility was recently rebranded as ‘MetroBets with Caesars Sportsbook’.

“The launch of our mobile sports wagering platform is an excellent complement to the elevated experience we’ve provided customers at MetroBets with Caesars Sportsbook at Casino Metro,” Caesars Digital president Eric Hession said.

“We’d like to thank our partners and the Puerto Rico Gaming Commission for making our sportsbook available throughout all of Puerto Rico. We’re confident customers will enjoy an experience they can’t find anywhere else.”

Casino Metro general manager Ismael Vega added: “The launch of this app brings our customers MetroBets with Caesars Sportsbook in the palm of their hands.

“The user-friendly app allows customers to bet responsibly from any corner of the island, elevating the experience we offer with MetroBets. Since the grand opening of MetroBets with Caesars Sportsbook at Casino Metro, we’ve experienced an exciting uptick in customers.”

Expanding market

Caesars follows a number of other major brands to have rolled out online sports betting in Puerto Rico in recent month.

BetMGM, the joint venture between Entain and MGM Resorts International, went live last month.

Meanwhile, Puerto Rico-based operator ZingSports linked up with sports betting software developer SB22 to launch sports wagering. Newly established operator Ballers Sportsbook also set out plans to launch through a partnership with Sportradar.
