CDI seals deal to launch BetAmerica in Michigan

News

Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) is set to launch its BetAmerica brand in the state of Michigan, after agreeing a new partnership with the Hannahville Indian Community.

Under the arrangement, CDI plans to open a retail BetAmerica sportsbook at the Native American tribe’s Island Resort and Casino in Harris, Michigan.

CDI will also roll out a BetAmerica online sportsbook and igaming platform for consumers to access across the entire state.

However, both the retail and online launches remain subject to subject to CDI securing the relevant license and regulatory approvals in Michigan.

“Guests of Island Resort and Casino as well as online players in the Michigan will be able to access sports betting, the best in online casino games and unique promotions through BetAmerica,” CDI’s chief operating officer Bill Mudd commented.

Hannahville Indian Community tribal chair for the Island Resort & Casino, Kenneth Meshigaud, said that the sportsbook would expand upon the venue’s range of entertainment options.

This would give people even more reason to visit the venue in Michigan’s upper peninsula, he added.

The announcement comes as CDI also published its financial results for the first half of the year, during which it saw revenue fall to $438.0m and comprehensive loss amount to $142.2m.
