DraftKings acquires Vegas Sports Information Network

News

Sports betting and daily fantasy sports operator DraftKings has completed the acquisition of US-facing multi-platform broadcast and content provider Vegas Sports Information Network (VSiN).

Financial terms of the purchase were not disclosed, but DraftKings said the deal would enable it to further enhance its content capabilities in the 14 US states where it operates.

Based in Las Vegas, Nevada, VSiN develops, produces, and distributes up to 18 hours of live linear sports betting content each day.

Original content from VSiN is accessible through its own 24-hour stream, as well as video and audio channels such as Comcast Xfinity, Sling TV, fuboTV, Rogers’ Sportsnet, MSG Networks, NESN, AT&T Pittsburgh and Marquee Sports Network.

VSiN also counts the likes of former National Football League (NFL) executive Michael Lombardi and former CBS and ESPN broadcaster Brent Musburger among its content contributors.

“VSiN creates authentic and credible content that resonates with sports bettors at every level, whether they’re experienced or new to sports betting,” DraftKings’ co-founder, chief executive and chairman Jason Robins said.

“In addition to its brand equity among sports bettors and engaging talent roster, VSiN also has an established infrastructure that DraftKings can immediately help expand, in the hopes of adding value to consumers who are looking to become more knowledgeable about sports betting.”

VSiN chief executive Brian Musburger added: “We created VSiN as a destination for sports bettors to find the most credible content to help inform their wagering decisions.

“Harnessing the power and network of the DraftKings brand will allow us to reach an even wider audience with our unique content.”

Musburger and his leadership team will to continue to manage the day-to-day operations at VSiN, as well as maintain editorial independence. DraftKings will fully integrate VSiN’s current employee base into its 2,600 person global workforce.

Last August, BetMGM, the betting brand operated via the joint venture between GVC Holdings and MGM Resorts, joined forces with ViSN to launch a new specialist sports wagering program.

Betting Across America features BetMGM oddsmakers and VSiN hosts discussing the latest odds and lines movement at BetMGM sportsbooks throughout the US.
