DraftKings renews sponsorship of Major League Eating hot dog event

News

DraftKings will continue as a sponsor of Major League Eating’s (MLE) 2021 edition of the Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest.

Under the agreement, DraftKings will serve as an official sponsor of the event for the second consecutive year.

Fans will be able to interact with the event through DraftKings platforms, including taking part in a free-to-play pool offering $25,000 in prizes.

In addition, customers in Colorado, New Jersey and New Hampshire will be able to place bets on the contest.

The event will take place on July 4 at Maimonides Park in Coney Island, New York.

“The Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest is an epic event that epitomizes both patriotism and the will to compete,” DraftKings’ director of sportsbook operations Johnny Avello said.

“We are excited to work with Major League Eating once again to offer people everywhere the opportunity to engage with this July Fourth tradition with true skin in the game.”

Major League Eating president Richard Shea added: “We are excited to have DraftKings as the official oddsmaker for this competition, which is the biggest event on the MLE calendar.

“It is sure to be a great July Fourth with the return of a live audience, a full slate of Major League Eaters and Joey Chestnut going for an unprecedented 14th Mustard Yellow Belt.”

Joey Chestnut won last year’s event and set a new world record in the process, consuming 75 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes.

In the women’s competition, Miki Sudo broke the women’s world record and took first place, eating 48.5 hot dogs and buns.
