News

Daily fantasy and sports betting operator, FanDuel, announced that Sarah Butterfass will join its executive team as chief product officer, reporting into FanDuel Group chief executive Matt King.

Butterfass has over 20 years’ experience in leading product strategies with various organizations, as well as overseeing product launches, and holds a particular focus on customer engagement.

“Product innovation and enhancing the customer experience is at the heart of everything we do at FanDuel Group,” FanDuel CEO King said. “Sarah’s deep digital experience, passion for building high performing teams, and delivering world-class customer experiences will be incredibly valuable as we lead our industry forward.”

Most recently, Butterfass served as chief product officer at e-commerce marketplace Groupon. She oversaw the company’s global product organization and helped develop Groupon’s customer experience for consumers and business across all channels.

Before joining Groupon in 2018, Butterfass served as senior vice president and head of customer experience at electronic trading platform, Etrade. She led product teams there, including for etrade.com, mobile, advanced trading platforms and all product verticals.

She also brings experience from travel fare aggregator Orbitz, where she was vice president of customer loyalty, and led the strategy for customer acquisition and retention for the brand’s rewards program.

FanDuel has increased its footprint across the United States throughout 2020, launching online and mobile sportsbooks in Iowa and Illinois, through partnerships with Boyd Gaming, as well as having a licence approved in September by Tennessee Lottery.

FanDuel owner Flutter Entertainment announced in August it would migrate all of its brands’ online offerings to Scientific Games’ OpenSports solution, the platform technology which powers its Paddy Power and Betfair brands.
