FanDuel secures Washington market access with Suquamish Tribe

Flutter Entertainment-owned FanDuel Group is to launch retail sports betting in Washington after it secured a market access agreement in the state with the Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort.

Under the deal, agreed with Port Madison Enterprises arm of the Suquamish Tribe, which owns and operates the Suquamish Clearwater Casino, FanDuel will open a new retail sportsbook at the facility.

The sportsbook will feature three live betting windows and 12 self-service betting terminal kiosks, as well as 17 screens showing live sports and seating areas. An additional three self-service betting kiosks will be located in the casino’s Beach Rock Music and Sports Lounge.

“We are excited to partner with Port Madison Enterprises and the Suquamish Tribe to bring America’s no.1 sportsbook to the state of Washington,” FanDuel’s vice president of retail Keith Wall said.  “The Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort will be a truly impressive location for the West Coast expansion of our FanDuel Sportsbook retail operations.”

The deal was made possible following the recent approval of nine sports betting compacts in Washington earlier this month, which cleared the way for the state’s legal betting market to go live. The Suquamish Tribe initially agreed its new compact in May.

This followed May 2020’s ratification of House Bill 2638, which paved the way for legal betting at the state’s tribal casinos.

Suquamish Tribe chairman Leonard Forsman said: “We are so pleased with the recent addition of sports wagering to our gaming compact, making sports betting legal in the state for the first time.

“Revenue from sports wagering will help support the Suquamish Tribe’s important governmental services offered to both tribal members and the local non-tribal community.”
