Gambling.com Group scores sports betting deal with McClatchy Company

News

Affiliate business Gambling.com Group has entered into a sports betting partnership with US news media organisation The McClatchy Company.

Under the deal, McClatchy will have access to Gambling.com Group’s proprietary data science platform, sports betting content team and expertise in how to monetize online sports betting traffic.

Gambling.com Group will help McClatchy leverage its audience reach and provide content to capture and monetize high-intent traffic.

McClatchy has operations in 29 markets across the US and counts newspaper titles the Miami Herald, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Kansas City Star, Charlotte Observer, News and Observer, Lexington Herald-Leader and Sacramento Bee among its publications.

“We are honored to have earned the right to partner with a market-leading firm like Gambling.com Group,” McClatchy chairman and chief executive Tony Hunter said. “The combination of their tools and McClatchy’s audience of 65 million unique visitors per month makes for a game-changing partnership for both organizations.”

Gambling.com Group chief executive Charles Gillespie added: “We publish more than 35 different online portals which all empower online gamblers to find the best online gambling companies.

“A natural and strategic extension of our business model is to increase our reach by deploying our winning formula and content through partners which have additional scale. I am delighted to announce our first media partnership is with such a significant and authoritative media organization as McClatchy.

“We look forward to turning this opportunity into the case study of what is possible for a national media partnership.”

The partnership comes after Gambling.com Group last week announced plans to launch in New York after the state’s gaming commission approved four operators to accept mobile bets.

Gambling.com Group said it had developed two New York-specific websites where bettors can find comprehensive and up-to-date information on sports betting in the state, with both sites ready to launch.

NewYorkBets.com will operate as a sports betting consumer information portal offering information about licensed operators, featuring product reviews and betting coverage of sporting events taking in New York State or those that involve New York based teams.

EmpireStakes.com will also cover sports betting, as well as offer additional information from an industry standpoint on legislative, licensing and revenue updates.
