IGT releases responsible gaming policy

News

International Game Technology (IGT) has released its responsible gaming policy, built around commitments such as internal training and awareness programs and offering operators tools to monitor players.

The policy was created to inform the company’s various stakeholders about IGT’s programs to promote fair play and comply with responsible gaming requirements in markets where IGT operates.

“Responsible Gaming is a cornerstone of all that we do at IGT, and an aspect of our business where we demonstrate leadership among gaming and lottery suppliers,” said Wendy Montgomery, IGT SVP, global brand, marketing and communications. “In publishing IGT’s Responsible Gaming Policy, we demonstrate important transparency about the tenets of our commitments and the exemplary standard to which we hold our employees, products and partners.”

IGT cites its governance model and extensive collaboration with internal and external partners as primary spurs for its responsible gaming initiatives. The company has formed targeted work groups to discuss and explore emerging responsible gaming trends and find best practices.

According to the press release announcing the policy, IGT’s responsible gaming approach “includes three primary goals and eight supporting commitments.” The three main objectives are: to promote protective tools to prevent problem gambling, to support RG organizations that address problem gambling and to prevent underage gambling.

To accomplish these goals, IGT has outlined eight commitments. These include working with appropriate stakeholders; generating internal awareness, education, and training; incorporating RG tools into products and services and offering operators the ability to monitor player behavior and minimize potential issues.

Also other commitments included to ensure all promotional activities comply with IGT’s RG Code of Principles, to support customers with RG best practices to align IGT’s RG strategies with stakeholders’ expectations and to report IGT’s RG activities to key stakeholders.

IGT has a certification to the Responsible Gaming Standards for Associate Members from the World Lottery Association for Lottery operations. In addition, IGT has a responsible gaming standards certification from the Global Gambling Guidance Group, covering its gaming and digital portfolio and operations.
