IGT to power Maverick sports betting launch in Colorado

News

International Game Technology (IGT) has brokered a deal to power online and retail sports betting for Maverick Gaming in Colorado.

Under the agreement, IGT’s PlaySports platform will support retail sports betting at the three Maverick land-based casinos in Colorado, as well as online sports betting throughout the state via Play Maverick Sports.

PlaySports kiosks will be installed at the Grand Z Casino and Johnny Z’s Casino in Central City, as well as Z Casino in Black Hawk, as part of the retail aspect of the agreement.

Maverick took ownership of the three land-based properties in December last year, acquiring the casinos from CC Gaming.

In addition, the IGT PlaySports platform, complete with a fully integrated player account management (PAM) solution, will power the Play Maverick Sports mobile app.

“IGT’s comprehensive PlaySports technology will enable Play Maverick Sports to engage new players and enhance our portfolio with exceptional sports betting experiences at our casinos and throughout the state of Colorado,” Maverick’s chief operating officer Justin Beltram said.

IGT PlayDigital’s senior vice president Enrico Drago added: “By leveraging the IGT PlaySports turnkey solution, Maverick Gaming is positioned to benefit from the entire PlaySports value chain and operate a top-quality, cross-channel sports betting program.”

The operator this year also agreed to purchase the Eldorado Casino and Resort in Shreveport, Louisiana, for $230m and the Montbleu Resort Casino & Spa in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, both from Eldorado Resorts.

However, Twin River Worldwide later swooped in to acquire the properties, as part of a wider agreement that also included Caesars Entertainment’s Bally’s Atlantic City.
