Iowa’s Lakeside Casino to open William Hill sportsbook

News

Affinity Gaming-owned Lakeside Hotel & Casino in Iowa is to open a new William Hill sportsbook on August 15, coinciding with the launch of regulated sports betting in the US state.

The new facility will be located on the lower level of the casino, featuring 14 televisions with 4K LCD displays and two viewing monitors with 4K Ultra HD displays.

New customers that register for membership accounts at the sportsbook will be entered into a draw to win a $10,000 dream vacation to any sporting event in the US.

In addition, all new member account sign-ups will receive a ‘Bet $50, Get $50’ offer at the new sportsbook.

“Our new sportsbook will provide the highest level of entertainment and customer service in Iowa,” Lakeside Hotel & Casino’s vice-president and general manager, David Monroe, said. “We are excited to partner with William Hill and take the sports betting experience to the next level.”

The state will officially open its regulated sports wagering and fantasy sports market at 12pm on August 15, after the Iowa Racing & Gaming Commission signed off on new rules for betting.

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds signed legislation into law in May, with consumers able to place bets in-person, online and via mobile devices, depending on which operators they are wagering with.

The Ameristar Casino in Council Bluffs this week also confirmed that it will open its sportsbook on launch day through a partnership with Penn National Gaming

Ameristar Casino will open a new sportsbook at the renovated Amerisports Bar & Grill, complete with a wagering counter with ticket writer stations. Kiosks will also be located throughout the casino property for consumers to place bets.

Licenses for the Iowa market cost $45,000 and all operators are subject to a tax rate of 6.75% on their annual sports wagering net receipts.
