Kindred offers Gamban blocking software in US

News

Unibet operator Kindred Group announced today its US arm has partnered with UK self-exclusion supplier Gamban, becoming the first operator in the US to offer its gambling blocking software to its customers.

Gamban software works as a self-exclusion tool for online gambling, allowing players to prevent access to any gambling site on individual devices.

The two businesses have a working relationship that stretches as far back as 2017, as the software is already available to all Unibet customers in Europe and Australia.

Maris Catania, head of responsible gambling and research at Kindred, said: “It has always been our ambition to bring our European know-how and expertise in responsible gambling to the US and our long-standing successful partnership with Gamban perfectly aligns with this ambition, as well as our journey towards zero revenue from harmful gambling by 2023.

“We are proud to be the very first operator in the US to offer inter-state protection to our customers and we strongly believe this will be an important step for the industry.”

The news comes in the same week that Kindred posted the results of its sustainability report for 2020.

The report showed that Kindred’s own early detection tool for problem gamblers was responsible for 76% of players exhibiting healthier gambling habits after being flagged as a risk.

“We’re incredibly excited to partner with Unibet and offer our blocking software in the US – it’s a huge step forward for the industry,” added Gamban co-founder Jack Symons.

“This highlights the evolution of the industry in recognizing how products like ours can protect their players and the sustainability of their companies, as well as the wider industry.”
