Mississippi sports betting handle continues to decline in February

Sports wagering handle in Mississippi fell again in February, with the US state reporting a month-on-month and year-on-year decline.

Consumers spent $39.8m betting on sports during the month, down 2.7% from $40.9m in the same month last year and also 30.4% lower than the amount wagered in January this year.

In terms of revenue, this reached $3.1m, which was 63.1% higher than $1.9m in February of 2022 but 39.2% behind the $5.1m generated in January.

Coastal casinos led the way with $1.7m in revenue from $26.0m in total wagers during the month.

Central casinos generated $1.1m from $8.6m in bets, while revenue at northern casinos hit $350,354 from $4.2m in bets.

Basketball was again the sport of choice among consumers, drawing $23.3m in total wagers, $14.4m of which were placed at coastal casinos.
