Ontario issues new online gambling licenses

News

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) has issued a series of new online gambling licenses to operators, allowing them to launch in the Canadian province’s market.

Ligtip Limited secured a license earlier this week, permitting it to roll out its Tonybet brand in Ontario via the Tonybet.ca website. The approval came after Tonybet was also issued a license in the Netherlands last month.

Elsewhere, Delta iGaming INC was this week awarded a new license for Delta Bingo and Gaming in the province, while Eclipse Entertainment Limited secured approval for its High Flyer Casino brand.

The trio of new licenses followed AGCO also granted approval to NetBet Enterprises for the NetBet, Ngame’s SpinAway and Rootz for its Wildz brand.

AGCO has now awarded more than 60 licenses to operators for Ontario’s regulated betting and igaming market, which opened on April 4 this year.

Last week, AGCO ordered all operators in the province to stop taking bets on the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) due to integrity concerns.

The regulator said that operators should stop offering any UFC betting with immediate effect.
