PA fantasy sports revenue up 47% in August

News

Pennsylvania’s fantasy sports market has reported a 47.2% year-on-year increase in revenue for August, with DraftKings leading the market over the month.

DraftKings’ revenue grew by 50.6% from the prior year to $755,952, further extending its lead over FanDuel.

The Flutter Entertainment-owned brand also reported strong year-on-year revenue growth, however, with its $610,019 representing a 43.7% improvement on August 2018.

While two other brands reported significant year-on-year growth in revenue, they lagged far behind the market-leaders, which together accounted for 98.4% of the market.

Draft, another business owned by Flutter, saw revenue grow 53.9% to $16,561, while Yahoo Fantasy Sports’ revenue soared 355.7% year-on-year. However, this only took its monthly total to $6,188.

The other three licensees active over the month all posted heavy declines in revenue. Fantasy Draft was the biggest faller, posting a loss of $448 in August, compared to revenue of $3,848 in 2018.

Boom Fantasy, meanwhile, saw revenue plummet 90.5% to just $64, and SportsHub Technologies reported revenue of $295, a 30.8% year-on-year fall.
