Paysafe bolsters US presence with Mobile Play launch

News

Global payments provider Paysafe Group has announced the launch of its new Mobile Pay mobile point of sale solution in the US.

Paysafe soft-launched Mobile Pay in the US during the third quarter and, with the technology having been adopted by almost 17,000 businesses across the country, the provider has opted to push ahead with a full launch.

Mobile Pay features a number of apps from omni-channel payments solutions provider Apriva, as well as patented hardware from mobile payments specialist AnywhereCommerce.

Paysafe said the solution transforms standard mobile devices into credit and debit card processing terminals by connecting them to an AnywhereCommerce-designed Walker BT card reader via Bluetooth. Traditional payment methods such as cash and checks are also supported, as are subscriptions and other recurring payments.

Other features include a dashboard with real-time reporting and analytics, allowing in-depth reports on inventory, transactions, sales taxes and other payment metrics.

“Smartphone and tablet usage in the US has never been higher, which is serving as a catalyst for the strong growth in mobile payments, especially in the SMB space,” Paysafe’s president of payment processing for North America, O.B. Rawls, said.

“We’re therefore excited to unveil Mobile Pay, an mPOS solution that marks a true step forward in mobile payments through our partnerships with two ‘best in class’ technology companies, Apriva and AnywhereCommerce.”

The launch marks Paysafe’s latest effort to enhance its presence in the US, with the provider having signed a deal with payment technology specialist WorldPay in November of last year to target growth in the US igaming and sports betting markets.

Earlier this year, Paysafe-owned digital wallet provider Skrill also agreed a major sponsorship deal with LA10 Football Club, the new Los Angeles-based venture backed by legendary Italian footballer Alessandro Del Piero.
