PlayUp receives operating license in New Jersey

News

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement has awarded a full operating license to Australian fantasy and sports betting operator PlayUp.

This regulatory approval will allow PlayUp to reach potential customers throughout New Jersey, which has the largest sports betting market in the US.

In January, PlayUp secured a market access deal to operate in New Jersey through a deal with FR Park Racing.

Days later, PlayUp announced a deal with the NHL’s New Jersey Devils to bolster its presence in the state.

“This is a huge milestone for our business,” said Laila Mintas, CEO of PlayUp US.

“New Jersey doesn’t just represent the largest market in terms of revenue for any operator, but it also is an indicator showing the market, both consumers and investors, that we have cleared the most stringent regulatory standards in the world.”

“We have aggressive growth plans for our jurisdictional footprint in 2022 and going into other states with New Jersey approval in our back pocket is a positive sign for other regulators.”

Mintas added that PlayUp is also working on an exclusive online gaming product in New Jersey, which it hopes will be approved in the near future.

Earlier today, New Jersey reported a record betting handle of over $1.0bn from September, along with a 40.3% rise in overall gambling revenue for the month.
