News

Australia’s PointsBet has hired Golf personality Paige Spiranac as a brand ambassador, joining Shaquille O’Neal in promoting the operator.

Spiranac is a former college golf player, and has accumulated almost 3m followers on Instagram, and 7m across all social media platforms.

She also publishes episodic content on YouTube and Instagram TV (IGTV), while her ‘Playing a Round with Paige Renee’ podcast is among the top-ranked golf and sports podcasts globally.

“Today is a very exciting day for the company as we welcome Paige, the No. 1 most followed and interacted golf personality on social media, into the PointsBet family,” said PointsBet’s US chief executive Johnny Aitken commented.

“We will look to deeply integrate Paige across our portfolio of brand channels, including linear and digital content, whilst unlocking unique ways to weave PointsBet into her social media universe as she strives to conquer sports betting and introduce it to her audience.”

Spiranac added that sports betting would become central to fans’ engagement and consumption of live sports in the coming years.

“I love connecting with my community on social media and I know this is going to be a fun, new way to get my audience more involved with not only golf, but all sports,” she said.

“I truly believe in what we are building at PointsBet and I’m thrilled to be a part of this team.”

She becomes the second high-profile brand ambassador hired by PointsBet this week.

On Monday (25 January) it brought in National Basketball Association legend Shaquille O’Neal to feature in a new advertising campaign in the operator’s native Australia.
