WagerWire launches new media network

News

Sports betting marketplace WagerWire has announced the launch of a new media division to provide a range of content for fans from grassroots creators across the US and Canada.

The division will launch alongside a new Community Page on the WagerWire website, where visitors will be able to access insights, viewpoints and written commentaries from members of the WagerWire community.

This content will span video, audio and written pieces covering game previews and recaps, stories from across the sporting world, betting and fan pontifications.

WagerWire will also roll out its new Bet Value Calculator, a tool designed to show users the real market value of their bet and allow them to compare these values to the cash out offer from their sportsbook.

Since its initial launch in the middle of 2022, the WagerWire community has grown to over 20,000 active participants and established a social media presence, with its Twitter page having recorded 8.5 million impressions and 2,100 daily profile visits so far in 2023.

“The new movement in social media is all about community,” WagerWire content manager Nick Davis said. “Recent years have isolated sports fans and bettors and sent them to the internet in search of something.

“What we have found is that users are looking for mutual engagement. We have put a significant amount of time into the community letting them know that we see them, we want to know more about them, and we want to elevate their content.”

WagerWire’s co-founder and chief experience officer Travis Geiger, who will head up the new media network, added: “The current sports betting media landscape is uninspiring for sports fans and bettors. The status quo is basically a stale sea of so-called experts telling people what to do. WagerWire is disrupting this monotony by injecting some democracy.

“People want to be invited to be a part of something. They want to engage and to be engaged with. They crave an interactive and honest way to connect with the brands with whom they choose to spend their time and money.”

The launch comes after WagerWire in January partnered with B2B “bet on anything” platform Sparket to create a secondary market for bets created through Sparket.

Markets available on Sparket include the next state to legalize sports betting and who will be thanked first in the host intro of Saturday Night Live.
