888Casino extends New York Jets partnership

News

888Casino has extended its partnership with the NFL’s New York Jets for the 2019 season.

Under the deal, 888casino branding will feature “extensively” at the MetLife Stadium during Jets games, including highlights on the stadium’s video board, and Jets branding will feature on 888Casino’s New Jersey-facing site and app.

In addition, promotions will appear on the team’s fan websites and social channels and on sports radio station ESPN New York 98.7 FM during Jets games.

888casino will also serve as the official game sponsor for the Jets’ meeting with the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots on October 21st.

Companies first established their partnership in October 2018 for that year’s NFL season, the first commercial deal between an NFL team and a gambling operator.

However, the deal attracted controversy as NFL rules prohibit the advertisement of sports betting services at NFL stadiums and during NFL broadcasts. Although the operator offers sports betting via its 888.com domain, the sponsorship was permitted as the advertisements were for the operator’s online poker and other casino games.

In a statement, 888 also said that “the partners anticipate the deal will offer additional opportunities for activity.”

“The extension of the deal between the New York Jets and 888casino for a second year in a row only reaffirms our expansion efforts and reiterates the interest in online gaming within the US sports community,” Yaniv Sherman, head of group commercial development at 888, said. “888casino already has a unique position in Nevada, Delaware and New Jersey for online gaming.

“The extension of the 888casino and Jets deal will continue to strengthen awareness of the 888casino brand and will aid the group’s growth strategy towards becoming a leading operator in the developing and potentially significant US online gaming market.”

New York Jets senior vice president of corporate partnerships Ian Lasher added: “We are proud to continue this partnership with 888casino in the gaming space allowing us to further engage and provide experiences for our fans in the mobile and digital world.”

In July, 888 rolled out its new online gaming platform, Orbit, in New Jersey’s igaming market.
