Real estate and entertainment business Cordish Companies has started work on its new $150m land-based Live! Casino property in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.

According to Cordish, the project will result an a $188m annual economic impact, in addition to a further $148m in economic impact from construction, including 960 direct and indirect construction jobs and 500 permanent new jobs.

Pennsylvania State Senator Kim Ward and State Representative George Dunbar joined Cordish executives for a ground-breaking ceremony at the location last week.

“Our team is very excited to enter the Pittsburgh market to introduce the way we approach and create unique entertainment experiences for our guests,” Cordish Companies principal Reed Cordish said.

“We’re confident that Live! Casino, along with Sports & Social Steel City and other amenities, will be the perfect addition to the region. We’re very grateful to everyone in the community who is working with us to bring this project to life.”

Cordish already has an online presence within the Pennsylvania igaming market, having rolled out PlayLive! branded site in partnership with GAN in August.

Last month, Cordish expanded its PlayLive! offering in the state with the addition of igaming content from NetEnt.
