DraftKings, Genius, BetMGM receive Wyoming sports betting licenses

The state of Wyoming has granted sports betting licenses to major operators as its sports betting market launches, with DraftKings, Genius Sports and BetMGM among the recipients.

DraftKings has announced the launch of its online sportsbook in Wyoming, which becomes the 13th state to offer the product. The operator has also rolled out its online sportsbook in Virginia and Michigan in January.

DraftKings co-founder and president Matt Kalish said: “Legalized sports betting has seen widespread growth in just three years and the DraftKings Sportsbook has been at the center of the action.

“We are thrilled that Wyoming sports bettors have the opportunity to experience the highly accessible and immersive fan experience along with best in class consumer protections that our product offers millions of skin-in-the-game sports fans.”

Furthermore, Genius Sports announced it was granted an online sports wagering vendor permit by the Wyoming Gaming Commission. Wyoming becomes the 15th state which Genius now has access to.

Genius CEO Mark Locke said: “We are honored that the Wyoming Gaming Commission has joined the growing number of US gaming authorities that have granted Genius a betting supplier license. Our team looks forward to working with our industry-leading sportsbook partners to deliver compelling, high integrity sports betting experiences throughout the great state of Wyoming.

“The momentum behind US sports betting continues to increase and we are excited to help the American market to fulfill its massive potential as we pursue licensing in additional states.”

BetMGM has also capitalized on Wyoming’s market launch, debuting its mobile and online sports betting products in the state.

“We’re ecstatic that BetMGM is one of the first mobile sports betting platforms to launch in Wyoming, just in time for the start of the football season,” said BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt.

“Wyoming is an important state for us as we continue to expand BetMGM’s footprint in the West. We’re confident that its sports fans will enjoy the BetMGM experience.”

Sports betting was legalized in Wyoming back in April with a view to launching the market on 1 September, after House Bill 0133 came into law. The Bill passed the Senate by a 24-5 vote.
