Fubo Gaming approved for Iowa launch, secures Arizona market access

News

Fubo Gaming, the betting subsidiary of streaming provider FuboTV, secured approval to launch online sports betting in Iowa and also agreed a market access deal in Arizona.

Approval from the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission will enable Fubo to offer advance deposit online sports wagering in the state via its market access agreement with Casino Queen.

Fubo said it expects its Fubo Sportsbook mobile product to go live in Iowa during the fourth quarter of this year.

“We believe Fubo Sportsbook will provide an elevated sports entertainment experience that will bring increased interaction and engagement between sports viewing and betting,” Fubo Gaming president Scott Butera said. “We are working with regulators in additional markets as we aim to truly innovate the gaming space.”

Meanwhile, Fubo agreed terms on a market access arrangement with the Ak-Chin Indian Community in Arizona.

The Fubo Sportsbook mobile app will go live in the state under Ak-Chin’s new license, which it secured from the Arizona Department of Gaming last week ahead of the state’s market opening on September 9.

As is the case in Iowa, Fubo expects to go live in Arizona during the fourth quarter.

“Our comprehensive sports entertainment experience is envisioned to combine real-money wagering with fuboTV’s live sports offering for a seamless user experience enabling consumers to wager while they watch,” Butera said.

Ak-Chin chairman Robert Miguel added: “With this sports betting license and our strategic partnership with Fubo Sports, we know we’ll be able to offer our customers the kind of premier entertainment experience they’ve come to expect from Ak-Chin, whether they visit our sportsbook in-person or online.”

Fubo Gaming also has market access agreements in place with the Cordish Companies in Pennsylvania, as well as with Caesars Entertainment in Indiana and for a planned launch in New Jersey.

This expansion effort comes after FuboTV in March completed its acquisition of sportsbook operator Vigtory, driving its move into the sports wagering sector.
