Gateway becomes NFL’s first Canadian casino partner

News

British Columbia-based operator Gateway Casinos & Entertainment has become the National Football League’s (NFL) first Canadian casino partner.

The multi-year agreement sees Gateway, which is 50% owned by Australia’s Crown Resorts, become the NFL’s official national land-based casino partner in Canada.

This will see it granted exclusive use of NFL trademarks to promote its casino properties and for customer acquisition drives around league events such as the NFL Draft, Pro Bowl and Super Bowl. Patrons will be able to benefit from exclusive promotions, including opportunities to meet NFL players and alumni, through the partnership.

In addition, Gateway’s Match Eatery & Public House sports bar and restaurant chain will become the official presenting sponsor of the NFL Fantasy App, the league’s official mobile fantasy sports game.

“We are thrilled to partner with the NFL in Canada as their first Canadian land-based casino partner,” Gateway chief marketing and communications officer Carrie Kormos said. “We know there are millions of football fans across Canada and to be able to offer exclusive, unique experiences to them at our properties is very exciting.

“This comes at such an exciting time as the NFL is celebrating 100 years of football this season and we look forward to celebrating with them as a new partner in Canada.”

The launch of the partnership is to be promoted with an official kick-off party to mark the start of the new season, with events held at Gateway properties in Ontario and British Columbia.

“NFL Canada is truly proud to be working with Gateway to collaborate and help accelerate its business in Canada,” NFL Canada managing director David Thomson added. “Like the NFL and our players, Gateway sets itself apart in the market through unparalleled teamwork and commitment to excellence, which makes our new partnership so powerful in Canada.”
