Genius expands data portfolio with American Hockey League

News

Genius Sports Group has entered a long-term data and streaming partnership with the American Hockey League (AHL), the main development league for the National Hockey League (NHL).

Under the agreement, Genius will serve as the AHL’s official data and streaming partner for betting purposes.

Genius will have exclusive rights to capture real-time team and player statistics from inside all 31 AHL arenas, as well as deliver data and live streams for betting purposes to sportsbook operators in the US and around the world.

The Genius portfolio of sports events now includes over 240,000 each year.

“Our goal is to deliver the excitement and quality of AHL hockey to fans worldwide and to engage with them as effectively in the manner that suits them best,” AHL’s executive vice president of business Chris Nikolis said.

Genius commercial partnerships director Sean Conroy added: “With the right technology partner, sports leagues can proactively engage with the regulated betting industry to drive new revenues, increase engagement and expand their global audience. Simultaneously, our sportsbook partners benefit from our ever-expanding portfolio of premium data and video content.

“With regulated betting continuing to spread across the US, the AHL has recognized a unique opportunity to accelerate its global growth and we are excited to be working alongside such a dynamic league.”

The new partnership comes after Genius this week also agreed a deal to provide in-game content to Scientific Games and its wagering customers around the world.

In recent week, Genius has also agreed a number of other data and streaming partnerships, including new deals with the Polish Basketball League and Polish Basketball Association, the Argentine Football Association and basketball’s Liga MX in Mexico.
