Golden Nugget Online launches in WV and VA with Scientific Games

News

Golden Nugget Online Gaming (GNOG) has partnered with Scientific Games to launch an online sportsbook in Virginia, as well as internet sports betting and igaming in West Virginia.

The sportsbook will be powered by Scientific Games’ OpenBet sports betting technology in both states and allow consumers to place wagers online and on mobile.

GNOG will also benefit from the integration of a full risk and liability management service, powered by Don Best Sports.

The West Virginia launch also saw the roll out of igaming, with GNOG having deployed the OpenGaming content aggregation platform from Scientific Games.

GNOG’s online casino offering in West Virginia features content developed by Scientific Games’ in-house studios, along with games supplied by a range of third-party providers.

In addition, the operator has access to complementary features and responsible gambling tools in the state.

In related news, GNOG will also expand its partnership with Scientific Games in New Jersey to launch retail sports betting solutions at the Golden Nugget Atlantic City Hotel & Casino. This follows the relaunch of its mobile sportsbook in the state.

“Existing customers of Golden Nugget have truly embraced legalized sports betting and igaming since we first introduced our online offering,” GNOG president Thomas Winter said. “Thanks to the continued support of Scientific Games and its modern OpenBet technology and OpenGaming platform, we are very excited to announce these range of launches.

OpenBet’s chief commercial officer Cathryn Lai added: “We are proud of our ongoing partnership with Golden Nugget, one of the world’s most recognizable brands in the casino space. We are equally honored that they continue to entrust OpenBet to power their digital and retail sportsbooks across multiple states.

“The entire team worked tirelessly to facilitate these new state launches, and we look forward to working with Golden Nugget across new projects in the future.”

Golden Nugget in February 2020 expanded its supply agreement with Scientific Games to include its OpenSports betting product suite, and completed the migration in March this year.

The new launches come after GNOG in August agreed a deal to be acquired by sportsbook giant DraftKings in a deal worth $1.56bn.

DraftKings will pay 0.365 newly issued shares for each common share of Golden Nugget Online Gaming.

Subject to regulatory approvals, the deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2022.
