Hard Rock selects SG for betting and igaming technology

News

Hard Rock International has selected Scientific Games as its new US betting and gaming technology provider, replacing Gaming Innovation Group (GiG).

The partnership will see Scientific Games providing its OpenSports digital and retail solutions to the operator for its sportsbook in Iowa and New Jersey, while Scientific Games’ OpenGaming solution will power its online casino offering in New Jersey.

It follows today’s (30 September) announcement that Hard Rock was to terminate its current supply deal with GiG, a deal that was first struck in 2018. The pair said they had agreed to terminate this deal, saying they were not able to strike a commercial agreement that supported their individual aims going forward.

The operator had originally partnered with GiG to launch an online sportsbook in New Jersey in October 2018.  This went live in January 2019, and was followed by an Iowa product in December.

Kresimir Spajic, senior vice president for online gaming and sports betting at Hard Rock International, said Scientific Games would allow Hard Rock to strengthen its presence in New Jersey.

“We wanted to take our offering to the next level and Scientific Games and its product offering fit the bill perfectly,” he said. “The company’s sports betting technology is second to none, while the launch of OpenGaming in New Jersey allows us to expand our already strong casino offering in the state.

“These are exciting times for Hard Rock International as we bring even more entertaining experiences to our loyal customer base.”

The supplier already provides land-based equipment and solutions to Hard Rock International’s casino properties, but the deal will see this partnership expanded online.

“The Hard Rock brand is instantly recognizable on a global scale and to extend our partnership with them once again is testament to our product development capabilities across igaming and sports in the US,” Scientific Games digital chief executive Jordan Levin said.

“As the digital team of Scientific Games, we have deep expertise across igaming and sports and we’re looking forward to working with the great team at Hard Rock.”
