New Jersey iGaming Dashboard – June 2019

Insight | Analysis

iGaming Business and Ficom Leisure are pleased to present the New Jersey iGaming Dashboard, providing revenue and product metrics on the state’s regulated market.

The data is updated monthly following the official release of figures from New Jersey’s Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE).

The New Jersey betting and gaming markets continue to be dominated by a small number of brands, with two clear leaders in each vertical.

The state’s online gaming market improved after posting a sequential decline in revenue for April, with May’s $38.3m total a 4.6% improvement on the prior month. Online poker saw revenue grow to $1.8m, though this was down year-on-year, while casino revenue of $36.5m was the vertical’s second highest total of 2019 to date.

In terms of market share, five licensees dominate the market. Golden Nugget continues to lead the way with a 36.7% share, followed by Resorts Digital, which accounted for 20.8% of total revenue. Together these two account for more than half of the state’s igaming revenue.

Three others – the Borgata, Tropicana and Caesars Interactive – each accounted for more than 10% of the market, with Hard Rock Atlantic City and Ocean Resort, both of which launched in 2018, lagging far behind.

The state’s sports betting market, meanwhile, is dominated by legacy daily fantasy brands. Meadowlands, with Flutter Entertainment’s FanDuel operating under its licence, accounted for 55.8% of revenue, followed by Resorts Digital and DraftKings, with 20.8%.

No other sportsbook licensee came close. Monmouth Park, partnered with William Hill, sits in a distant third with market share of 8.7%, suggesting that FanDuel and DraftKings’ dominance will remain unchecked for some time yet.

Ficom Leisure also provides exclusive monthly estimates on the Italian online market in the Italy iGaming Dashboard, including operator market shares across casino, sports betting and poker. It also provides quarterly figures on the Spanish online market in the Spain iGaming Dashboard and on the Danish online market in the Denmark iGaming Dashboard.
