Resorts World Catskills brings in IGT and Betgenius for sportsbook launch

Resorts World Catskills’ new sports betting lounge is powered by technology from International Game Technology (IGT) and Genius Sports’ Betgenius subsidiary.

The betting lounge, which opened under under the Sportsbook 360 brand, will feature betting powered by IGT’s PlaySports platform.

Betgenius’s trading console has been integrated with PlaySports, to deliver live sports data feeds, price management support and a bespoke price and risk management advisory service.

“Resorts World Catskills is excited to partner with Betgenius and IGT PlaySports who are recognized as world leaders in sports betting technology and services,” the casino’s general manager and chief operating officer Kevin Kline said.

“This partnership with Sportsbook 360 further positions us as the newest and closest fully integrated gaming resort destination to Manhattan.”

Genius Sports Group chief commercial officer Jack Davison added: “We are proud to play a key role in Resorts World Catskills’ new sportsbook offering.

“Utilizing Betgenius’ premium sports betting content in sportsbook management, Resorts World Catskills will offer its customers the most extensive and engaging sports betting experience.”

Resorts World Catskills, located in Monticello, became the fourth and, under the current legislation, final commercial casino in New York to launch sports wagering.

“We are thrilled to offer patrons access to Sportsbook 360 for a unique, integrated gaming and lounge experience within our casino resort,” Resorts World Catskills president and chief executive Ryan Eller said of the launch.

“We are committed to providing unparalleled gaming in the region and the sophistication of our sportsbook perfectly complements our diverse gaming offerings, allowing patrons to watch games, place wagers, and enjoy even more entertainment and traditional casino gaming, all within close proximity to the New York Metro Area.”

It follows the launch of wagering at Rush Street’s Schenectady-based Rivers Casino, powered by Kambi, and at del Lago Resort and Casino and Tioga Downs, powered by DraftKings and FanDuel respectively.

The Oneida Nation has also launched legal wagering, in partnership with Caesars Entertainment and Scientific Games, at its Turning Stone Resort in Verona and Point Place Casino in Bridgeport.

The tribe will also open a Caesars-branded sportsbook at its Yellow Brick Road Casino tomorrow (4 September), which it claims will be the largest sportsbook in the state.

While Resorts may be the closest of these venues to Manhattan, it still faces competition from New Jersey, with bettors in New York City able to place mobile bets as soon as they enter the state’s geofence.

The venue’s parent company Empire Resorts has a market access deal in place with bet365, though the Stoke-based operator has not been mentioned in connection with Thursday’s launch. This deal, agreed in November 2018, covered the launch of a sportsbook at the property, as well as an online offering, when regulation permits.
