IGT customers gain access to NBA IP through new deal

News

International Game Technology (IGT) has entered into a multi-year partnership with the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Under the agreement, IGT customers in the US using its PlaySports sports betting solution will be permitted to use NBA intellectual property in their sportsbooks through an agreement with IGT.

The deal covers the use official NBA data, as well as team and league logos and marks.

The agreement makes IGT the first B2B sports betting platform provider in US to bring the league’s intellectual property to regional casinos and sportsbooks.

“With the rise in popularity of in-play, prop and parlay bets, having access to official, real-time NBA data feeds and league marks and logos positions IGT to collaborate with our PlaySports customers in creating highly compelling betting menus for sports fans across the country,” senior vice president of PlayDigital at IGT Enrico Drago said.

The NBA’s senior vice president and head of fantasy and gaming Scott Kaufman-Ross added: “This agreement will allow regional operators across the country to have direct access to NBA assets to create the best NBA gaming experience and further engage our fans.”

The deal comes after IGT last week announced that its land-based IGT Gaming and online PlayDigital arms had both received recertification from the Global Gambling Guidance Group (G4).

With IGT Gaming initially granted G4 certification in 2017, and PlayDigital following in 2019, this marked the first time a supplier re-certified both its land-based and online solutions.
